I hope I can move soon so my kids don't have to attend this school. First, the lady in the front office (I keep her name to myself) is very rude and visably annoyed with her job. Kids walk into her office to sign in as 'late' and get a harsh 'go' from her. I even witnessed her pulling on a students bookbag because he was in her way. I nice 'excuse me' would have been enough in my opinion. The boys mother even said 'you did't have to pull him on his bookbag'. Second, the teachers yell and cannot control their temper. My son's first day in Kindergarten was today and his teacher said to a classmate after being frustrated 'listen or you get a whippin' I'm sure she doesn't really mean to whip the child but this comment says a lot about the ability of this teacher. This is not the only incident, my daughter attendet this school too last year. Don't waste your time talking to the principe because all she will do is protect the teachers and will find a way to excuse their behavior. If you are a parent and you care about your childs education and well being don't send your child to Horrell Hill. Oh I forgot to mention, your child will most likely never have recess because the teachers punish bad behaved kids with 'no recess for all' but they are just too lazy in my opinion. Good luck

I have never had such a horrible experience at a school like I did at this one. Starting front the entrance to the so called Resource officer. When you walk in a school the staff should never make anyone feel like their not important. Instead of sitting at the desk texting on your personal phone or having conversations with the people in the office, how about greet the people with a smile and not an attitude because they walked in for help. We just want what's best for our children and for them too be safe while there. First of all, the education of our children should be the most important thing that we focus on. Every child will not learn like another child, so figuring out what they are the weakest in helps determine what should be worked on. My son was in the summer reading camp at Hopkins elementary and learn more in 6 weeks than he learned in 8months here at horrell hill. Calling our children out their names and getting frustrated with them gives them the power to say " they don't care, so why should we." We have to care about what happens to our children because as parents and teachers we have the biggest influence on our kids. Don't allow the little things to affect the big picture which is educating our lawyers, doctors, football players, or business owners. It takes a village to raise a child, so we are the village let's do our jobs. I have complained several times about the resource officer never being on duty. When we bring our kids to school or pick them up, it makes a parent feel good to see an officer on duty. NOT Horrell hill!!!! This officer is never there in the morning or evening, so how can a parent ever feel safe leaving them here at Horrell hill. I've spoken with his supervisor and nothing ever changed since we spoke, when he guarantee it would. My son didn't even know the officer's name and I couldn't tell me what he even look like. I ride pass several schools taking my high school daughter to school and at 630 -700 an officer sitting at the school waiting on the kids to arrive, Not Horrell hill!!! My daughter knows her officer's name and he's there daily before anyone arrives at school, not Horrell hill!!! This school does not make it safe school for your children and things need to change or people need to be replaced. I had an incident with my child's teacher that required the district being brought in but the principal guarantee that it would be handled. Because it was so close to school ending I guess she assumed it wasn't important anymore, so she never call to give me the final result. The only good thing about this school was the guidance counselor (Mrs. Green), a 6th grade teacher ( Mr. Scott), & Mrs. Maxwell & Mrs smiling(3rd grade teacher's). If my child was moved to another class when I requested it the issue with this other teacher may not have happened. These 4 people were outstanding & made it easier to finish out the school year. I'm sorry if I'm being long winded but it seems like no one is listening to the cry of us as parents. We all want what's best to help the staff but mostly what's best to better educate our children. I know that their is a shortage in teachers but what's more important the education of our children or just having a teacher or staff member who doesn't 't care and they're only looking for a pay check? So district one school board are our children important enough that some changes be made. My grandmother told me when I was a little girl, "A good attitude & a great personality will carry you further then being nasty any day."

I struggled with this school the past two years. Massive bullying, kids shouting and writing obscenities, and poor education. The fact that my child begs to be home schooled because he has "poor boy shoes" and students that tell him to "f-off" in class alongside teachers that publicly call them heathens and poor students is beyond depressing. Had multiple meetings last year and yet teacher is now teaching 4th grade.. she shouldn't be educating at all. Lack of good school programs, enrichment activities that NEVER happen.. and constant lack of telling us about events. I missed career day, parent lunches, and several award ceremonies that I was not even told about. On top of the poor faculty the parents need to step up in the area as well because they can't do it alone. Teachers are not employed to carry all of the responsibility for your children. This is not just a school problem but an issue with the entire community as a whole and what we expect from our children. Sad that my child starts his new school Monday and told me THAT is his best birthday present.

I go to go to that school

Horrible school with teachers that can't control their temper!
